FPGA Designer
About
We’re a fast-growing startup based in Los Angeles, building the future of commercial and defense drone technology. Our CEO travels frequently and operates in both professional and personal spheres that require seamless, high-level support. This role is critical to keeping operations, travel, and executive priorities running smoothly.
Role
We are seeking an experienced FPGA Designer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise with Xilinx FPGA platforms, a strong background in DSP algorithm implementation, and solid understanding of ARM-based SoC design. You’ll work closely with hardware, software, and systems engineers to design, develop, and optimize high-performance embedded systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and verify FPGA architectures using Xilinx Vivado and Vitis toolchains.
- Develop, simulate, and optimize DSP algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Integrate FPGA logic with ARM processors and embedded SoC subsystems.
- Collaborate on system-level design, including hardware/software co-design and optimization.
- Perform timing closure, resource utilization analysis, and hardware debugging.
- Develop board-level test plans and work with cross-functional teams on system bring-up.
- Implement and test embedded software on target platforms (e.g., Linux, FreeRTOS, QNX, FreeBSD).
- Maintain detailed documentation of designs, interfaces, and workflows.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of professional experience in FPGA design and verification.
- Hands-on experience with Xilinx FPGAs (Zynq, UltraScale, or Versal preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Vivado, Vitis, and hardware simulation/debug tools.
- Proficiency in Verilog and/or VHDL, with scripting experience (Tcl, Python, or Bash).
- Experience with DSP implementation and MATLAB/Simulink model-based design.
- Solid understanding of ARM processors, SoC architecture, and embedded systems design.
- Comfortable working with Linux and at least one embedded OS (FreeRTOS, QNX, FreeBSD).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AXI interconnects, custom IP development, and high-speed interfaces.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Exposure to hardware/software co-simulation environments.
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and documentation skills.
Why Join Us
- Work with cutting-edge FPGA and SoC technologies.
- Collaborate with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.
- Competitive compensation and growth opportunities.
